Master Power Brakes sells front suspension kits for Plymouth and Dodge A, B and E body cars.

Browse all suspension kits.

Customers have a choice between graphite polyurethane and stock rubber suspension kits:

Graphite polyurethane:

Stock rubber:

Like Master Power’s brake kits, the suspension kits also contain all new, high quality components.  Each front suspension kit includes upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, upper and lower rebound bumpers, upper and lower control arm bushings, adjusting sleeves, and strut rod bushings.

Customers generally ask:

1. Which kit is the better choice for me - graphite polyurethane or stock rubber?
2. What makes and models do you have suspension kits for?

1. Which kit is the better choice for me - graphite polyurethane or stock rubber?
Replacing your original parts with stock rubber will make your ride smoother, but you won’t have the precise handling that you’re used to with modern cars.  This is because rubber can be compressed and the components’ alignment can shift.

Over time, rubber wears out. The factors that cause this include regular wear and tear in addition to environmental variables, such as exposure to sun, ozone, chemicals, and so on.  Once the rubber is worn, bearings, ball joints and other hardware will be affected.

Polyurethane, on the other hand, has a much higher resistance to wear and abrasion which means it is longer lasting.  It is not affected by oil, salt, ozone and other elements which can gradually ruin rubber bushings.  It also has a higher load bearing capacity, meaning that it has a higher resistance to compression.  Since the polyurethane is harder to squeeze down on than rubber, it maintains alignment to a greater degree.  In addition, the graphite provides internal lubrication which helps to prevent parts from squeaking while you’re cruising around.  What does this mean for you?  It means a smooth ride with tighter handling.

Bottom line: If you want to keep an authentic look inside and out, stock rubber will likely be your choice.  However, if you want the classic car with the benefit of modern handling, graphite polyurethane is for you.
