1. What types of valves do you carry and what are they used for?
Master Power Brakes sells combination, metering, adjustable proportioning, and residual valves.
Combination valves incorporate metering, proportioning, and a system failure switch into one valve. These are available for disc/disc and disc/drum applications.
Metering valves are needed in the front disc portion of a disc/drum system to retard the application of front disc brakes. Without them, cars will nose dive and you will experience excessive pad wear.
Adjustable proportioning valves are used when you have a special rear condition that requires higher or lower pressure than normal conditions. You should use a metering valve in the front when you use an adjustable valve in the rear.
Finally, there are 10 lb. and 2 lb. residual valves. Ten pound residual valves maintain line pressure to rear drum brakes, giving a firmer pedal. Two pound residual valves are required when the master cylinder is lower than the disc brake calipers (as in under floor mounting in Street Rod applications) to maintain system pressure from the calipers to the master.
